Having decided to change our life style, we set out to find the boat of our dreams, and did so earlier than we expected. But we managed to get ourselves sorted out and bought ‘Take Five’ in September. The next problem was to find somewhere to keep her until we had made the necessary arrangements for our house and belongings. We needed to find somewhere in the North as our home is in Newcastle, luckily we got a mooring on the Macc at Lyme View marina. We then found a two week slot to move her up from Braunston to her winter mooring. The cruise was a bit like being on holiday, a rush to get somewhere and not much time to see the scenery, but we did achieve our aim and got her settled in to her temporary home by the end of September.
The cruise took us up the Oxford and onto the Coventry where we joined the Trent & Mersey at Fradley Junction. Next stop was Kidsgrove where we turned onto the Macc and headed North for the marina. We arrived earlier than expected so we took a short cruise down the Upper Peak Forest before putting her to bed for the winter.
It was a nice feeling to know that we had our boat and our new life was awaiting us in the Spring of 2002.
